The VTCT Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is a practical-based qualification intended for those who maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.

The course will be assessed through a combination of written assignments, one practical observation and the submission of a portfolio of evidence. You must undertake the sampling of four learners, across two different assessors, complete an IQA sampling plan and four IQA reports, take part in a standardisation meeting, be observed by your expert witness and complete a Personal Statement. Assessment should focus on real work activities so that naturally occurring evidence can be assessed.

Theory elements are covered online in your own home, in your own time and at your own pace via self-study using our Virtual Learning Environment. These theory elements are perfectly suited to online delivery therefore they can be delivered and learning assessed online. You will be fully supported by your course tutor whose role it is to help and guide you through the process from beginning to end. Both your tutor and assessor will ensure that you not only reach your goals but also maintain industry and awarding body standards.
It is recommended that you have a level of general education comparable to GCSEs, a caring disposition and be committed to fulfilling all learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. To begin working towards becoming an internal quality assurer you should be an experienced and qualified assessor for your relevant vocational area and ideally hold D32/33, A1 or the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement. You should also hold Vocational qualifications in the area of quality assurance. You must meet the required Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and have internet access through a laptop, PC, or tablet, equipped with the latest versions of Windows, Android, or Apple operating systems.
This qualification can be completed in a minimum of 3 months, however, on average it takes 6 months to complete all the elements. VTCT completion criteria allow a maximum of 2 years from registration.
